You need to do this every day

DIY Wood Floor Cleaner Recipe

If your wood floors are newly installed, it is very important to follow the manufacturer’s cleaning instructions or follow the warranty guidelines. If your warranty has expired, a DIY cleaning product is a great way to save money while getting your floor just as clean and streak-free as the commercial counterparts. 

Things You will need:

  • 2 cups warm water
  • 1/2 cup white vinegar
  • 1/4 cup plain rubbing alcohol
  • Liquid dish soap 
  • 5 drops essential oil (This is up to you) 
Ingredients for cleaning

NOTE: Make sure you avoid Castile soap in this recipe. Do not use a liquid dish soap that with scent, moisturizing, anti-bacterial, or which contains “oxygen”. Use a plain dish liquid dish soap. 

To prepare: Make a solution of water, white vinegar, and rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle. Then add 2 drops of liquid dish soap. Additionally, you can add a 5-10 drop of your favorite essential oils. Gently swirl to mix it properly.  

To use: Properly dust mop the floor, then lightly spray a small area and wipe with a dry microfiber cloth. You can repeat the step until you’ve cleaned the floor properly. 

Remember, after using vinegar for cleaning it is important to use a floor refresher or polish as directed by your flooring manufacturer. This is to be done once a season following a deep-cleaning, or anytime your floors are losing their shine.
